I am Anne Butler (Munroist No. 3366) and I live in Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands. I am a hillwalker and I am accompanied on the hill by my canine companions Molly, Ralph and Meg.
For me, hillwalking without a dog is an empty experience. Dogs live in the moment, they are invigorated by the sights and smells of the hills. They may not appreciate the views in the same way we do, they do not worry about what may lie ahead or what has passed before. Maybe we should all try to be more dog.
I climbed my first hill, Ben Lomond, in 1998 and I haven't stopped since. I have completed five rounds of Munros and two rounds of Corbetts plus the Munro Tops, Grahams, Donalds and Furths.
On 15th September 2018, accompanied by 55 friends and 10 dogs, I climbed Fiarach. This marked my completion of the Grahams and I also became the 53rd person to complete an SMC Full House.
I am now busy walking round them all again.
One woman, her dogs and a lot of hills, Ben Lomond was only the start.
